School Notes:
  • The White Mountain School prepares students for college and beyond. Challenging academics are balanced with extensive studio arts, an international community service program, and outdoor programs, . Students receive personal attention with daily academic support, small classes, and superior college counseling amidst the spectacular 800,000 acre White Mountain National Forest.
  • Our belief is that a successful education is as dependent on gaining an understanding of the world and environment around you, as it is on providing you with the best academic environment to grow. Here, you learn a lot by being outside, and a lot about who you are on the inside.
  • With a solid grounding in core academics and alongside dedicated and caring teachers, you discover that learning for understanding is more important (and more fun) than learning through memorization, that writing for expression is more important than writing for page count, and that exploring an interest in art, music, and theater is an everlasting foundation for originality and personal expression.
  • Outdoor Learning Expeditions (OLE): Students and faculty participate four times a year in OLEs. These expeditions blend traditional academics and significant places and ideas with an outdoor skills component over a 3-4 day period.
  • Service Learning: Through active community service locally, across the country, and overseas, students channel their best instincts, communicate thoughts, and learn how they can make a difference in our local and world community. Construct buildings in tiny villages in Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Work on Habitat for Humanity projects in rural Mississippi. Serve local nursing homes, soup kitchens, and hospitals. Learn by independent and collective action that you can do something that makes a difference.
