Leelanau is the experientially-based boarding and day college preparatory high school that provides a customized and independence-building education to students with learning differences in a nurturing and breathtaking setting on the shores of Lake Michigan. Leelanau features an exceptionally devoted and seasoned faculty that provides a multi-sensory, whole-child approach to education; strength-based teaching strategies that build self-esteem and confidence; a 1:6 teacher-to-student ratio; an integrated curriculum; and parental updates available every 72 hours.The Leelanau School is the experience-based, five-senses learning community where students in grades 9 through 12 live and discover together on Lake Michigan’s wooded shore. We build on each student’s learning strengths, creatively using hands-on projects and our dramatic natural setting to help students gain a fresh new sense of independence, engagement, and capability.
