  • Founded in 1867, The Storm King School celebrates a long tradition of helping students translate potential into success as they prepare for college and meaningful lives. Through academic classes, outstanding fine and performing arts, competitive and club sports, and interesting extracurricular activities, the faculty and staff offer 135 students in grades 8-12 opportunities to enrich themselves through learning and confidence building. Honors and AP courses are available. The School offers boarding (75%) and day (25%) options. The safe and peaceful 55-acre campus is located on the crest of Storm King Mountain, overlooking the Hudson River, and adjacent to the 3800-acre Black Rock Forest Preserve. New York City, with all of its cultural richness and opportunities, is about an hour’s drive or train ride to the south. For college-bound students with learning differences, a small (35 students) school-within-a-school program called The Mountain Center, offers specialized, differentiated instruction in up to four core classes (English, math, history, and science). Mountain Center students are full participants in the SKS community. In addition, The Learning Center offers support to any SKS student who needs extra help with study and organizational skills.
