| School Notes Overview: |
The StGIS mission is to offer a balanced and challenging international education to motivated and talented boarding and day students in the Mozart Village of St. Gilgen. With immediate access to superb outdoors and cultural pursuits the school provides outstanding opportunities. Admission is selective and based on previous academic results and a willingness to learn. The school provides scholarships for especially gifted students. The St. Gilgen International School is committed to the framework of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma programme and will seek IBO authorization immediately after opening.Campus and residences are built in a beautiful lakefront park in St. Gilgen on the Wolfgangsee, a short distance from Salzburg. The school’s design values openness, light and very strong links with the host community. The school will operate in renovated historic buildings as well as newly built academic and boarding facilities and will include a state of the art library and media centre as the heart of the school, a performing arts and music centre, fine arts and media production studios, and modern laboratories for the sciences. The school maintains a permanent office in St. Gilgen, the entire campus is expected to be completed in 2008.
At the doorstep are modern gymnasia, swimming pools, sailing and water activities, climbing walls, riding stables as well as skiing and mountaineering activities. Opportunities for all students to engage in local and international service projects are an essential part of the school’s expectations. The school opens for grades 6 to 10 in September 2008, adding grade 11 in 2009 and grade 12 in 2010.
