The Outdoor Academy is an accredited semester school for 10th and select 11th graders located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina.
Our school combines a rigorous college preparatory curriculum with wilderness leadership programming, regional studies, environmental education, and unique arts offerings.
Each semester, we enroll up to 32 high school students from private and public schools from all over the United States.
Classes are small and taught in a traditional classroom setting, as well as out-of-doors next to streams and in the forest.
Students gain valuable leadership skills and wilderness experience while hiking, whitewater paddling, backpacking, caving and rock climbing. They become fully engaged in the learning process and gain a new sense of respect for the environment, for others, and for themselves. School accreditations: SACS - Profile last updated: 06/08/2007
