School Notes:

  • The Donahue Academy of Ave Maria accepts freshman through Senior high school boarding students. Freshman and sophomore students are considered for placement with a Host Family in the Town of Ave Maria. Juniors and seniors live in the Ave Maria University dormitories.
  • We estimate enrolling about 220 students next year, with about 65 in the high school program and 2-8 boarding students.
  • The unique program and healthy academic and spiritual culture present at the Academy has been a strong draw for families not only from around Naples, but also from around the country.
  • In addition some qualified Donahue Academy juniors and seniors can dual enroll at AMU. Several families have moved across the country to join our growing efforts, but several others, who would love to have their students benefit from the Donahue Academy program, cannot make the move as a family. It is in response to this situation which has prompted the Academy to make boarding for high schoolers available.
  • Our family mission and unique situation also allows us to currently charge about HALF the national boarding school rate. Total student tuition and boarding costs are between $15,000 and $23,000. Due to our low flat rate, we are not able to offer financial aid to our boarding students. The boarding program is for college prep students with strong academic credentials and who will be completely "on Mission" with us academically and spiritually. It is not for those who are struggling academically or rebelling socially or spiritually. Independence, integrity and a willing spirit are absolute requirements of enrollment
  • Vibrant and faithful Catholic culture, including daily Mass, Eucharistic devotion, strong theology content, and teaching sisters from the Sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist.
  • Classical pedagogy including the study of Latin, logic and rhetoric as well as an intensive 4 year study of math, humanities, and science.
  • Use of college seminar format as students are encouraged to encounter not just "subjects" but rather truths explored in various disciplines which compliment and refine each other as they find their source and completion in God.
  • Juniors and seniors seeking to transfer in will find more success if they have been the product of a classical formation in homeschooling or private schools and are open and sincere about learning and living the Catholic faith in their daily lives.
  • Dual enrollment options at adjoining Ave Maria University are possible for qualified seniors.
  • In the heart of the new community and University of Ave Maria in beautiful southwest Florida (see www.avemaria.edu and www.avemaria.com). The town center includes shops and restaurants and a grocery store, postal service, medical clinic and dentist are all in walking distance. The beautiful Ave Maria Oratory Church and impressive AMU world class library are also open and available to student use. Weekend trips to Naples’ world class resort beaches and other southwest Florida attractions.
