School Notes:
  • At its core, The Meeting School is a place where students are educated with respect and genuine acceptance. Each student is embraced for his or her uniqueness and perspective, while the Meeting School's culture of intellectual freedom seeks to challenge students’ assumptions about themselves and their world.
  • Our combination of a traditionally-structured curriculum in math, science, history and English, coupled with our the historic farm, a committed core faculty and our progressive teaching methods, provides students with an experience found rarely, if ever, elsewhere. Course offerings integrate books, papers, and classroom study with hands-on place-based practice in topics as diverse as history, environmental science, “peak oil” and a post-carbon economy, peace studies and permaculture. Our progressive education offers opportunities to learn about and live solutions to many of the greatest challenges facing the planet, including conservation, conflict resolution, responsible resource management and the value of community.
  • Our program is designed to encourage our students to be expansive thinkers and to successfully follow their interests and passions. In recent years graduates have gone onto colleges that include Smith, Hampshire, Marlboro, and the University of Vermont.
