  • Western Mennonite School is located on a scenic 45-acre campus in the beautiful Willamette Valley, just outside the capital city of Salem, Oregon. Western’s location offers a variety of opportunities for historical, cultural, leadership, and recreational experiences as part of the overall high school experience.
  • Over the past 65 years, Western has hosted students from 38 countries. International students represent 14% of our high school student body; 24% of our high school students reside in the dormitory.
  • Western Mennonite School is a comprehensive middle school and high school, established in 1945 and currently enrolling 231 students in grades 6-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 15:1.
  • Western is fully accredited through the Northwest Accreditation Commission, the Oregon Department of Education, and the Mennonite Education Agency. Western Mennonite School equips students for a life of faith and learning by providing an educational experience centered around five key distinctions: Christ-centered, academic excellence, nurturing community, peace and service, and enrichment opportunities.
  • The college-preparation academic program is organized on a regular (not block) schedule with a 7 period day. Classes meet five days per week for 46 minutes.
  • A minimum of 25 credits is required for graduation. 1 credit = 2 semesters; .5 credit = 1 semester. Graduation requirements include:
  • Language Arts - 4 credits
  • Bible – 4 credits
  • Math – 3 credits (Algebra I and higher)
  • Lab Science – 3 credits
  • Health – 1 credit
  • Physical Education – 1 credit
  • Career Education - .5 credit
  • Global Studies – 1 credit
  • US History – 1 credit
  • Economics - .5 credit
  • Government - .5 credit
  • Electives – 1.5 credits
  • Fine/Applied Arts/Global Language – 3 credits
  • Mini Term – 1 credit Advanced courses are offered in all core departments and are titled: Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy & Physiology, Advanced Global Citizenship, Psychology, Advanced English III, Advanced English IV, Advanced Novel, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Spanish III, and Spanish IV. All advanced courses are designated with an asterisk (*) on the official transcript.
