Greenwood is a small community committed to a family environment of honesty, kindness and respect. Every day after breakfast the entire community gathers for morning circle to share, reflect and prepare for the day ahead. Meals are family-style with faculty and students sharing tables. Parenting is important for all children, and we do our best to make Greenwood a home away from home. Greenwood boys interact and play with faculty members’ dogs and children, and students and faculty are on a first name basis, two small ways in which we engender familial feelings and relaxed communication. Although our program is structured and maintains definite behavioral expectations, the atmosphere here is relaxed and friendly, and students are encouraged to and assisted in taking responsibility for harmonious interpersonal relationships.
