Students do not attend physical education classes at Blair; instead, they participate on sports teams. We believe that this is the best way to develop physical health while teaching valuable life lessons such as teamwork and comraderie. There are 28 competetive sports from which to choose, including ice hockey, alpine skiing, crew, golf, and lacrosse.

At Holderness, students play an important role in the daily management of the school. In a unique balloting system that has existed at Holderness for over 50 years, student leaders are elected by all members of the community on the basis of dependability, initiative, fairness, and leadership. Each junior or senior has an equal opportunity to become one of seventy school, residential, or job crew leaders. Students participate daily in the student job program, a program in which everyone gives back to the community on an ongoing and regular basis. Community service days and opportunities are available throughout the year.
