Sem's faculty actively encourage students to meet with them in conference after school as often as they like for “Bell 9,” the last period of the day. The same teachers also support students in the dorm during study hour, on the playing fields after class, and in the performing and fine arts - weekdays and weekends.

NMH prides itself on how dynamic the classroom life is. Students take three main academic classes that run for an hour and twenty minutes every day for a semester. With an average of thirteen students per class, NMH students develop strong connections with their peers and teachers through these block periods. NMH classes incorporate group learning, individual work, lectures, and seminars. NMH students are tremendously prepared for the hour and thirty to three hour classes they encounter at most colleges and universities because of the block schedule.
