Chatham Hall - Review #4

I feel like our school's Honor Code is stronger than any other school I came across when I was researching schools to possibly attend. It makes for a more trusting and tight knit community. I was also really taken by the closeness of our faculty to students. Chatham Hall's small size makes for some really amazing opportunities to get focused attention.

Learning to manage my time was huge for me. I feel really prepared for college with the study skills and habits that I learned at Chatham Hall. And I've definitely opened up in regards to trying different things. Looking back I was probably a little too sheltered before I left home but now I feel much more confident for facing any challenges that life might have in store for me.

Don't be afraid to dive right in. Just let go and have a good time and try to be open to new experiences. Chatham Hall was the perfect place to try new things and take a few chances. Don't be afraid to fail - your friends and teachers will be there for you!

I love the person that Chatham Hall has helped me become. I honestly can't imagine growing as much as I did without Chatham Hall.

The comfy chairs in the library are great for curling up to read a good book, do a little studying or even take a catnap if the mood strikes you.

Chatham Hall's academics are very challenging and stimulating but not in a way that has become overwhelming or too much to bare. We are very encouraged to work together and explore on our own. I found this to be a perfect environment for learning. Chatham Hall's teachers are definitely passionate and there for us at all times. I honestly can't imagine other teachers being more committed than mine have been.

I played basketball all four years and tried cross country. I feel that what struck me most was our coaches attitude towards good sportsmanship. It is definitely the most important thing at Chatham Hall - even though many of our teams have gone on to win conference championships. In fact, the school has won the Best Over-all Sportsmanship for our conference several times.

I love the fact that Chatham Hall has so many opportunities to try different arts. I ended up being drawn to theater and had some really tremendous experiences there - but I have also tried out various visual arts and music classes.

Chatham Hall offers a really cool opportunity to spend your spring break working with a Habitat for Humanity project. I've done that twice and both times were amazing experiences. All-in-all, Chatham Hall is really committed to service. It isn't required but I think just about everyone ends up serving in one way or another.

I would say that room selection and roommate pairing is very fair. And truthfully, our dorm rooms are bigger than many college rooms I saw. Our houseparents are very cool - they really get that it's sometimes tough to be away from home and they are always willing to respond and deal with any issues quickly.

Our dining hall has great variety and there is always something for everyone. The staff is really first rate and friendly. I love when they have turkey, dressing and all the trimmings.

The town of Chatham is pretty small - a few shops and restaurants - so there really isn't much to do. But, truth be told, there is always so much going on on campus that it doesn't bother you to much.

The school does a good job planning a wide range of activities - anything from going shopping or to the movies to taking a day trip to Baltimore or a play in a regional theater.
