The Cambridge School of Weston - Review #4

First off, the module system is very different compared to other schools, which uses trimester system. It adds variation to how many classes taken per year with an hour thirty minute per class that is taken each day. The school education is very challenging in a way that it adds depth and deeper understanding of each subject. It is extremely hands on and applies real world application specifically in sciences where, the students actually examines a fetus pig to engage students in biology.To add emphasis to what makes this boarding much different from other boarding is it's culture. It extremely cares about each students. They will be known by their names, and not just thought of as another student. During a typical school day, students will walk out of their classrooms and on to the centre quad there is always things going on that students can enjoy and really get to know the each students from all grades. It is very open and friendly. It left me a memorable experience.

I would have never been mold to the person that I am today. This school has changed me intellectually and as a person. Without this school I would never have choose somewhere else. There were sports trophies that I have won, however the most memorable experience is being with the school and with the community. That is priceless.

I wouldn't have done anything differently because the school has done so much to get me beyond my boundaries that I thought of wouldn't of have been doing. I would say to the teenagers going to this school is to not think about worrying too much and experience it a couple days. It will get better.

The student body is excellent. I do not know how to elaborate this in anyway. Each person at school adds a unique value to the school. Even the quiet kids will not be left out.

Let them experience the schools for themselves. They will be wow-ed by the experience. Be aware just in case of an emergency to a hot pocket just in case dining hall food is not what it is expected. I know that students will be doing this even if I do not mention it to them, but go to student lounge after study hall. You will find yourself a treat.

All the class is challenging, but yet leaves a memorable experience. It is hands on and the teacher actually really cares about the student's development on an intellectual level and as an individual. They would, actually 'teach' you how to think critically and be analytical. The English is not just a normal reading and writing class. It teaches you structure and how to be an excellent thinker or else a writer. For other classes like science or math. The module system makes it flexible for students to take whatever course they desire. They can enter molecular biology and focus on to more advanced subject or they can enter a various physics courses that has a two to three year long program.The most interesting academic is the arts. The school has a huge art program with extremely talented artists. There are so many subjects that you can choose from that you can learn something unique. Develop skills that will change the whole way you think. Each student will come out with a better understanding and also a unique technique that will differentiate; and be well recognized for years to come.

The module system makes extracurricular mandatory. I have chosen soccer, basketball and ultimate Frisbee. Our school goes against other schools in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, such as other schools like BB&N, Chapel Hill Chauncey Hall and variety of other schools. It stretches every individual out to be the best, such as people who are in-extremely athletic to become athletic to extremely talented to play on a professional level. No one is left out. For the coaches, depending if you get into varsity or junior varsity sports, each coach is fitted for its purposes.

This school has a great art program. When I was there, the students who were in my classes were on a whole different level of art. The classes that were offered has, a music program, acting program, and varieties of hands on art classes, such as sculpture, advanced photography and abstract drawing courses. The art work is displayed around the school year long. That it makes coming to school more enjoyable. I know of a lot of friends that graduated from here and have gone to the Rhode Island School of Design that is the best college for the arts. I am not an artist myself, but the art program there is really intensive.

Another unique character about this school is that there are so many volunteer opportunities. Amnesty International and Bikes Not Bombs are the few to be mentioned. The students within the organization is so passionate about the volunteering that you can actually feel the non-profit atmosphere. Not to mention that this is a liberal arts school. Students will raise their voice for any municipal matters intelligently.There are the student government that it is student runned. They would hold weekly meetings to talk about student matters that would need changes. It can be topics ranging from what kind of school food should there be to what time the student hours should be.

The dorm life in the school is pretty interesting. Depending on what character the faculty think you are, you will be moved accordingly to a certain dorm. Within the dorms you will be roommates with a random person who you never have thought of to be affiliated with. At first I thought it would be uncomfortable, however after the first semester I realized that it was remarkable experience.Not to mention the weekly dorm meetings sitting in the common room area to discuss matters of what the dorm should doing bonds all the people in the dorm making the student's life a more friendlier place. There is a system in place to change rooms after each semester, and also a weekly grocery and do or go whatever to eat outside. It is understandable, the dorms allow these flexibility because it can be hard to eat the food you want at school.

In the morning there is bagels and bread with drinks that is freely set up in the morning. It is self served so you can get whatever and whenever you want until it is closed. The cafeteria is set up beautifully unlike the ugly arrangements in public schools that you can enjoy sitting down while eating during breakfast, lunch dinner and maybe some snacks in between.

The school surrounding can never be better. It is surrounded around a gorgeous suburban town with lots of trees and green spaces. You are free to go into the forest and discover interesting sight seeing while hiking or you can take a jog around the big soccer field. It is a great space to enjoy the nature and take the time to study without distraction. One down side of it, is that you need a car to go somewhere that have actual stores.

The students, the extracurricular and the culture makes the school's social life. There are so many considerate and deep down to earth students that it is the one of the perfect places to have friends and create good memories. Not to mention you will be friends will all variety of people that you never might not have thought of interacting with.
