Reflections and Advice:
1.) What do you think makes your school unique relative to other boarding schools?

Stony Brook really does prepare one for college. Living in a dorm for 4 years has helped me to adjust to the college life. I also feel that I am able to manage my time better than most of my peers. Because of Stony Brook's daily schedule, I learned how to balance academics, athletic/exercise and social/recreational time. There is also a focus on leadership at Stony Brook. This has helped in many ways as well. In a current class of about 2,400 students, it is difficult to stick out from the crowd; however, the leadership skills that I have learned at Stony Brook have helped me to do so.

2.)  What was the best thing that happened to you in boarding school?

I really appreciate the years i spent at the Brook.

3.)  What might you have done differently during your boarding school experience?

My advice would be to get involved. There are many leadership opportunities which will help prepare you for college. Study hard, but have fun!

4.)  What did you like most about your school?

The the thing I enjoyed most about Stony Brook is that the teachers really care about the students.

5.)  Do you have any final words of wisdom for visiting or incoming students to your school?

Enjoy it!

Academics:

1.) Describe the academics at your school - what did you like most about it?

Academics may be difficult, but teachers are always willing to help. The best and most unique part about academics is that teachers live on or very close to the campus and they are willing to help outside of the classroom. Many run review sessions right out of there homes or while they are on Dorm Duty which is especially helpful during exam week. The peer tutoring program is accessible and very helpful.

Athletics:

1.) Describe the athletics at your school - what did you like most about it?

Athletics are good. Even though our football team isn't that great, everyone still comes out to all of the home games! GO BEARS!

Art, Music, and Theatre:

1.) Describe the arts program at your school - what did you like most about it?

The plays are all wonderful. A great deal of hard work goes into preparation and it is evident as the actors perform.

Extracurricular Opportunities:

1.) Describe the extracurriculars offered at your school - what did you like most about it?

There are a great deal of activities one can join. Many are leadership positions.

Dorm Life:

1.) Describe the dorm life in your school - what did you like most about it?

I loved living in the dorm. I felt at home in my dorm.

Dining:

1.) Describe the dining arrangements at your school.

Optional Saturday brunch for Seniors was the best!

Social and Town Life:

1.) Describe the school's town and surrounding area.

There a movie theater and a mall not to far away from the campus. Walks to the village are enjoyable. Port Jeff has a few stores, a Mc Donalds, and SePort Deli. 711 and Dunkin' Donuts are very popular and very close to the campus. The train station is right across the street which is ideal for trips to NYC.

2.) Describe the social life at your school - what did you like most about it?

Because Stony Brook is small, everyone knows everyone.
