  • Westover is an independent college preparatory boarding and day school for young women in grades 9-12. Founded in 1909, Westover is located halfway between New York City and Boston. Westover’s mission is to provide an environment which inspires the intellectual, artist, athlete and philosopher in each student. Westover challenges young women to think independently, to embrace diversity, and to grow intellectually and spiritually. Westover encourages in each student integrity, responsibility, and commitment to community.
  • The Fuller Athletic Center houses a gymnasium, a fitness center, a squash pavilion, a multi-purpose room, offices for the Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer, a locker room for students and faculty, a visiting team room and equipment storage areas.
  • The Searle Gymnasium houses two regulation size basketball courts, two volleyball courts and a three level indoor climbing. The Angier Squash Pavilion has four international squash courts with a large extended viewing area. The Walker Multi-Purpose Room is used for aerobic, dance, and yoga classes as well as for a variety of meetings. The Rothman Fitness Room is a state-of-the-art fitness room that includes cybex weight machines, free weights and a variety of cardiovascular machines.
  • The outside facilities at Westover include two regulation fields, and two smaller training areas for two field hockey teams and three soccer teams in the fall. In the spring the fields are used for two lacrosse teams and a championship varsity softball team and a JV softball team. There are also two paddle tennis courts. The outside facilities also include six outdoor tennis courts that are used for tennis classes in the fall and spring and the tennis teams in the spring.
  • This year work has begun to remodel an existing building on campus to become a state-of-the art visual & performing arts center.
  • Westover is located in Middlebury, CT in Fairfield County, close to Litchfield County in the Northwest corner of Connecticut. Westover is about 2 hours from New York City and 2 1/2 from Boston.
  • Summer program information: For two weeks in the summer, girls entering grades 7, 8 or 9 will have the chance to pick from two one-week camping sessions focusing on Science & Engineering or Performing Arts. Summer WISE (Women in Science & Engineering) is a wonderful opportunity for any young girl entering grades 7, 8, or 9. WISE camp is a week long residential program that introduces girls to the concepts of Engineering, Computer Science, Science and Mathematics while providing a fun, summer atmosphere in the evening with recreational time, swimming time, and cultural programs. Program material is taught by current Westover teachers as well as Westover graduates and is a wonderful opportunity to expose girls to the fields of science and engineering. Summer Arts at Westover is also taught by a collaborative team of current Westover teachers and Westover graduates. Girls are introduced to the performing arts and concepts of staging, acting, public speaking and dance elements. Girls learn self-confidence through stage presence and public speaking techniques. The evenings are time for recreation, swimming, and cultural programs.
