School Notes:
  • "Rigor, ritual and relationships are the three "R"s that characterize the experience of a girl here at Miss Porter's School. The classroom is the heart of MPS where you'll find excitement, energy, freedom to experiment, rigorous debate, thoughtful silences, and laughter - yours, your classmates' and your teachers'. Sarah Porter brought to MPS a sense of ritual that even today binds the community with its founder and all of its graduates. Both the traditions themselves and the greater sense of their inclusiveness create a community in which ritual is primary. From sit-down dinner to the opening of school Convocation, the girls at MPS discover that events small and large include them, and, in fact, are made for them. We believe that learning takes place in the context of relationships. Together, you and your teachers will search for the metaphor within a poem, the significance of an historic event, and the truth in an ethical ambiguity." - from school website
