Massanutten Military Academy holds its annual Memorial Day weekend event the Friday before Memorial Day. You do not want to miss this event. Academy cadets take this day seriously and take time to honor the war dead of MMA and Shenandoah County. Following the traditional and impressive military parade, members of the Corps of Cadets line up on the side of the field away from the grandstand with a stack of white crosses, each one representing a soldier, sailor, marine, or airman who made the supreme sacrifice for our country. As each name is called, a cadet slowly and deliberately crosses the field with a cross and places it in the ground. The rows stretch the length of the field. After the crosses are placed, a large flag is positioned by cadets as Taps is played. A very impressive ceremony indeed. We hope to see you on Friday and for you to see our beautiful campus.
