  • ANNOUNCING THE MIDDLE SCHOOL AT OLDFIELDS Oldfields School Adds Sixth and Seventh Grades GLENCOE, MD (May 21, 2009) Oldfields School announces that its outstanding educational opportunities, dedicated and passionate teachers, and legendary “feeling of family” will soon be available to sixth and seventh grade day girls. The Middle School at Oldfields will open in September, 2010, and will also include the current eighth grade. Oldfields School is an all-girls boarding and day school for grades 9-12 and is located 25 miles north of Baltimore. The philosophy as a School, with its emphasis on maximizing the potential of each girl, will also be the cornerstone of The Middle School. Students in this age group need more focus to help support one another at a time in their lives when cliques and exclusion of individuals can take place. Oldfields has always been known for an absence of these behaviors. "This is an exciting time at Oldfields," said Taylor Smith, Head of School. “Local families will have the opportunity to send their daughters to Oldfields two years earlier as day students. We know that young women thrive in a single sex environment and, with local public schools being so overcrowded, we hope to provide an academic home for the young girls who seek a change in atmosphere.” The sixth, seventh and eighth grades will comprise The Middle School at Oldfields beginning with the academic year 2010-2011. During the next academic year, 2009-2010, middle school faculty will be hired to plan for the implementation of the curriculum for this age group. # # # If you’d like more information about The Middle School at Oldfields please call Dr. Parnell Hagerman, Director of Admission, at 410/472-4800 or email at HagermanP@OldfieldsSchool.org
