Reflections and Advice:
1.) What do you think makes your school unique relative to other boarding schools?
Coming to Brentwood from New Delhi was one of the biggest leaps of my life. At first, I wasn’t sure how I’d fit into a school halfway across the world, but Brentwood has this way of making the world feel smaller. What makes it unique is how the school blends rigorous academics with community spirit, you’re not just a student in a classroom, you’re a part of something living and breathing.
2.) What was the best thing that happened to you in boarding school?
The best thing about my Brentwood experience was learning resilience. I came in shy and unsure, but I left as someone who’s confident in my ability to adapt, work with others, and take on challenges head-on
3.) What might you have done differently during your boarding school experience?
. If I could change anything, I’d have pushed myself to try out for more stuff earlier instead of hesitating. My advice to future Brentwood students is simple, take every opportunity because you’ll surprise yourself.
4.) What did you like most about your school?
What I loved most about Brentwood was how it taught me balance. I could be an engineer-in-training in the lab, a rower on the water, and a kid laughing with friends in the dorm, all in the same day. That kind of variety is rare, and I’ll always treasure it.
5.) Do you have any final words of wisdom for visiting or incoming students to your school?
If you’re visiting Brentwood, make sure to check out the docks at sunset, it’s the kind of view that stays with you. And don’t skip out on curry night in the dining hall. If you’re looking for a dorm recommendation, Rogers House gave me more than just a place to live; it gave me brothers for life.
Academics:
1.) Describe the academics at your school - what did you like most about it?
The IB program was intense, no doubt. But the teachers at Brentwood made the difference. I’ll never forget Dr. Wong in Physics, who challenged me not just to memorize formulas but to ask why they worked. Or Ms. Patel in Math, who believed in me even when I bombed my first test. They pushed me to think critically, which has made my transition to engineering so much smoother.
Athletics:
1.) Describe the athletics at your school - what did you like most about it?
I wasn’t a natural athlete, but I joined rowing to challenge myself. Early mornings on the water with Coach Peters taught me discipline in a way textbooks never could. Even though I was far from home, being part of that crew gave me a second family and showed me the value of grit
Art, Music, and Theatre:
1.) Describe the arts program at your school - what did you like most about it?
I didn’t perform on stage, but I loved being behind the scenes. Helping out with lighting for the school play was one of my favorite experiences. it showed me how much effort goes into creating something beautiful, even when most people never see the work you do.
Extracurricular Opportunities:
1.) Describe the extracurriculars offered at your school - what did you like most about it?
One of my highlights was volunteering with the sustainability club. Coming from Delhi, where pollution is such a real challenge, I felt connected to its mission. Organizing shoreline cleanups and presenting at assembly about reducing waste gave me a sense that I was making a difference, even in small ways
Dorm Life:
1.) Describe the dorm life in your school - what did you like most about it?
Living in Rogers House was both challenging and rewarding. At first, I missed my family terribly, but late-night FIFA tournaments in the common room or chatting with my roommate, Daniel, until 2 a.m. helped me settle in. House parents were always there, checking in and making sure we weren’t just studying but also looking after ourselves.
Dining:
1.) Describe the dining arrangements at your school.
The dining hall was honestly one of my favorite parts of Brentwood life. I’ll never forget curry nights—it felt like a small taste of home. Beyond the food, though, it was the laughter at long tables, or someone sliding over their dessert when they saw you had a rough day, that made it special.
Social and Town Life:
1.) Describe the school's town and surrounding area.
Mill Bay is quiet, but I came to appreciate it. Trips into Duncan with friends for bubble tea or taking a bus into Victoria on weekends gave me a balance of calm and adventure. I liked that I could focus during the week but still explore on weekends.
2.) Describe the social life at your school - what did you like most about it?
What struck me most was how easy it was to make connections across grades and cultures. Coming in as an international student, I was worried I’d feel isolated. But from house socials to school-wide events like Brentwood Regatta, I felt included. The friendships I built are ones I know will last.
