School Notes

  • Choosing a boarding school is about much more than academics. It is about finding a place where your child will be safe, encouraged, challenged, and genuinely cared for while discovering who they are becoming.
  • At Taejon Christian International School (TCIS), we believe every student deserves to be known-not simply by name, but by their gifts, their aspirations, and even the challenges they bring with them. Whether a student joins us from another city in Korea or from the other side of the world, our goal is the same: to make TCIS feel like home.
  • Located in Daejeon, South Korea's center of science, technology, and innovation, TCIS is an English-language International Baccalaureate (IB) World School serving students from Preschool through Grade 12. Our boarding program welcomes students in Grades 612 into a close-knit residential community where learning continues long after the school day ends.
  • Life in our boarding community is intentionally personal. Students live alongside peers from different countries and cultures while being supported by experienced residential staff who know them well. Shared meals, evening study sessions, celebrations, service projects, weekend activities, spiritual life, and everyday conversations create friendships that often last long after graduation. Students quickly discover that they are not simply living at school-they belong to a community that celebrates their successes, supports them through challenges, and encourages them to become confident, compassionate young adults.
  • That same sense of belonging extends into the classroom. With an average class size of just 12 students, teachers have the opportunity to understand each learner as an individual. Students are challenged academically while receiving the encouragement and personal support they need to grow with confidence.
  • TCIS offers the full International Baccalaureate continuum-the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). Rather than focusing solely on memorization or examination results, an IB education develops curiosity, critical thinking, communication, creativity, and the ability to solve complex problems. Students learn to ask thoughtful questions, connect ideas across disciplines, collaborate with others, and take meaningful action in their communities.
  • Learning at TCIS extends far beyond academics. Students participate in athletics, fine arts, robotics, STEM, outdoor education, leadership programs, clubs, service initiatives, and cultural experiences that encourage them to discover new passions while building resilience and character. They are challenged to lead, to serve others, and to contribute positively to an increasingly interconnected world.
  • The results speak for themselves. Each year, graduates earn admission to respected universities across North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and beyond. More importantly, they leave TCIS equipped with the confidence, independence, and character to thrive wherever life takes them.
  • Founded on Christian values, TCIS welcomes families from a wide range of cultures, nationalities, and faith backgrounds. Our Christian foundation shapes how we care for students-through integrity, compassion, respect, and service-while fostering a welcoming environment where every student is valued and every family is respected.
  • For many families, choosing a boarding school means trusting others with what matters most. We take that responsibility seriously. Our aim is not only to prepare students for university, but to help them become thoughtful leaders, caring friends, and people of purpose.
  • At TCIS, students are challenged to learn deeply, encouraged to love others well, and inspired to lead lives of meaningful impact. More than a place to study, TCIS is a place where young people are known, supported, and empowered to flourish.
