- Founded in 1814, North Yarmouth Academy is an independent, coeducational day and boarding school serving students from Toddler through Postgraduate in the coastal town of Yarmouth, Maine-just 10 minutes from Portland and two hours from Boston. One of Maine's oldest independent schools, NYA offers a cohesive, mission-driven educational experience that emphasizes academic excellence, character development, and meaningful engagement at every stage of a student's journey. From the earliest years, NYA fosters curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning through developmentally appropriate, student-centered Montessori instruction through kindergarten. Beginning in the 2026 2027 academic year, the Music Scholar Program will expand opportunities for talented musicians through advanced study, mentorship, and performance. NYA's boarding program provides a supportive residential experience for Upper School and Postgraduate students, featuring a modern, suite-style residence hall with private baths.
