Albert College is a boarding and day school for approximately 300 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Students are encouraged to engage fully in school life by participating in the Five A's - Academics, Arts, Athletics, Active Citizenship and Adventure.
Albert students develop into well-rounded global citizens within our close family environment. At Albert College, students will learn about other cultures and make lifelong friends while also learning a great deal about themselves as individuals.
The boarding life staff are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide support, friendship and guidance.
In addition, the nurses and counsellor in our Health Centre are available to facilitate any health concerns.

- Albert College's boarding experience fosters accountability, initiative and organizational skills. Self-confidence, a growing sense of independence and lasting friendships are the results of living in our supportive environment. On the weekends, boarding students enjoy organized activities supervised by boarding staff. Students are encouraged to get involved, step outside their comfort zone and try something new. The Senior School is a beautiful historic building, built in 1923. One of the school's many features is the Memorial Chapel, where morning announcements are held, and our beautiful dining space, Ackerman Hall. This great hall has seen many students from all cultures dine together over the years. The Senior School also offers a full-service gymnasium, workout room with golf simulator and a student lounge. There is plenty of green space on campus, as well as outdoor tennis courts, a number of athletic fields and a beautiful courtyard. Albert College students have access to nearby facilities including an aquatic and fitness centre, ice rink, running track, baseball diamond and waterfront trail.
- Important notice for international students: In 2024, the Government of Canada placed an intake cap on international student permit applications to stabilize new growth. This does not apply to students studying at Albert College as all elementary and secondary schools are not included in the cap. Current study permit holders are not affected. Study permit renewals are not impacted.

- Hon. John Barritt '68 - Born in Bermuda in 1950, John enjoyed a career in journalism, law and politics. He obtained a BA (’71) from Trent University, a Bachelor of Journalism (Hons) from Carleton University (’73) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Calgary (’86). John practised law with one of Bermuda’s leading law firms where he rose to become partner. In 1993 he entered the political arena and became an elected member of the Legislature where he served for 18 years in various capacities, including Whip, Cabinet Minister, and Leader of the Opposition. In recognition of his years of service, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth extended to John the right to retain the title “the Honourable” for life. John served on the Board of Governors at Albert College for the maximum possible term of 12 years (2009-2021). Over the years John has also served his community in several volunteer capacities, including chair of a housing trust for seniors in need, and member for 20 years of the Frederick Sydney Smith ’31 scholarship committee that has helped fund scores of Bermudian students the opportunity to attend Albert College.
- Al Purdy '32 - Born in Wooler, Ontario in 1918, Alfred (Al) is best known (along with Milton Acorn, Alden Nowlan and Patrick Lane) as a “working class” or “poet of the people” writer. A restless traveler, he is well known internationally, not only as a poet but also as a TV and radio play writer (CBC), anthologist, editor, travel writer and book reviewer. In addition to his thirty-three books of poetry, Al published a novel, an autobiography and nine collections of essays and correspondence. He won the Governor-General’s Literary Award for poetry in 1965 with The Cariboo Horses and again in 1986 with Collected Poems 1956-1986. The People’s Poet Award was given to Alfred in 1987 for Collected Poems. His work was recognized by his appointment as officer to the Order of Canada in 1982 and the Order of Ontario in 1987. Al passed away on April 21, 2000 at the age of 81.
- Jean Pigott '43 - Jean's career spanned business, government, education and politics. She first came to public notice as President and CEO of Morrison Lamothe Inc., when she was one of only three female CEOs in Canada. After that time, she became Chair, Director, Friend or Patron of more than 45 organizations including Carleton University, Ottawa Heart Institute and Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa. Jean was the first female to sit on the Board of Directors of Canadian Tire and Ontario Hydro. Her political career began as a member of parliament for Ottawa-Carleton, later becoming an advisor to Prime Ministers Joe Clark and Brian Mulroney. Jean chaired many prestigious organizations, notably the National Capital Commission and the Ottawa Congress Centre. Numerous awards and medals include Officer of the Order of Canada and an impressive list of medals in recognition of her service.
- Carly Heffernan '03 - Born in Belleville, Ontario in 1984, Carly Heffernan is an award winning actor, writer, comedian, director and show runner. In 2009 she joined the National Touring Company of the legendary Second City Toronto. She was quickly promoted to the main stage cast in 2010 where she would write and perform in four hit main stage revues. She went on to write and perform on multiple television shows like, This Hour has 22 Minutes, Royal Canadian Air Farce, The George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight Show, The Beaverton and more, before becoming head writer, director and show runner of CityTV’s, Second Jen. In 2016 she would return to Second City to become the youngest resident director in the theatre’s history. Then in 2020 she became their first-ever female Artistic Director. For her work, Carly has received Canadian Comedy, Toronto Theatre Critics, Canadian Screen and Helen Hayes awards. It was at Albert College that Carly first fell in love with all things funny, she hopes everyone can find a way to laugh their way through life.
