The Putney School is located on a working dairy farm. We value the dignity and relevance of physical work, which shows through our Work Program. Students carry out daily chores, collaborate in teams, learn skills, and sometimes lead crews various areas: Barn, Kitchen, Land-Use, Dining & Maintenance.
Our lake offers students a chance to relax, fish, canoe - in the center of campus.
Everyone at LFA (students, faculty, and staff) belongs to one of four houses - Bird, Lewis, Sargent, or Welch.   The four Houses compete in a series of mini competitions throughout the year and the House that earns the most points WINS!

The typical class size at Milton is 14 students. Classes meet around the Harkness table, where students and faculty share dialogue, inquiry and reflection.

Teamwork, dedication, and sacrifice are key components of our athletic programs. Participation in athletics promotes good health but also teaches invaluable life lessons. Through athletics, students learn to develop confidence, self-discipline and leadership skills while learning the value of collaboration. Athletics allow students the opportunity to work together in accomplishing defined goals.
Miller School of Albemarle, a coeducational day and boarding college preparatory school for students in grades 8-12 and post-graduate, opened its doors in 1878 with 33 students. Girls first enrolled in 1884, making it one of the nation`s oldest coeducational boarding schools.  The school is situated 12 miles west of Charlottesville on a gently rolling campus of 1600 pristine acres.
Designated as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence for academic achievement, Amerigo Lexington offers students exciting opportunities through the Exemplar Scholar program, the Air+Space Academy, the elite Fine Arts department and more.
Solebury School's music program includes a chorus, rock band, and instrumental and jazz ensembles. A block of time is carved out of the school schedule each day for students to pursue their music interests.
The athletic program emphasizes teamwork, fitness, and the development of specific skills. All students participate in each of the three seasons. Interscholastic teams compete in soccer, cross-country, basketball, softball, lacrosse, tennis, and Ultimate Frisbee.
