| 1.) What do you think makes your school unique relative
to other boarding schools?
|
| |
| Mandatory Athletics-Mandatory participation in each season was a feature at both prep schools I attended and I found that it was a good window of opportunity for some students to meet others they might not have otherwise. I played sports in two seasons and did weight training in the the other my senior year, and I got an opportunity to meet other kids in my weight training class and get to know them better through a common activity.
Saturday night studyhall-For missing classes and other required activities, students were assessed saturday night studyhall hours. A maximum of three hours from 7-10 were required to be served and if a student had a SSH, they were not allowed to leave for an overnight on Saturday night. This was a relatively effective method of keeping students focused and in class |

| 2.) What was the best thing that happened to you in boarding school? |
| |
| The best thing that happened to me was that I got the chance to meet Mike Carrano, Jack Devaney, and Chris Garceau. There were some other students that I'm glad to know, but these guys really made my experience there worth it and have given me fond memories of school and friends that I know will be there for me ANYTIME ANYWHERE. |
| |
| 3.) What would you have done differently during your boarding school experience? |
| |
| Nothing really. My acceptance to the school was a really simple process and arriving at school I jumped right into things. |
| |
| 4.) What would you never want to change about your school? |
| |
| The kids there and the experiences we had. |
| |
| 5.) What things could be improved about your school? |
| |
| The social activities as well as some of the teachers. But SOME OF THE TEACHERS WERE UNBELIEVABLE...don't get me wrong. |
| |
| 6.) Do you have any final words of wisdom for visiting or incoming students
to your school? |
| |
| |
| |
| |
| 1.)
What did you like best about your schools academics? |
| |
| The availability and flexibility of the teachers. I had one teacher in particular, my spanish teacher my senior year who realized my strengths and weaknesses in the subject. I had a roommate my junior year from Venezuela and I had become very capable of communicating verbally information that I had difficulty writing down. My teacher realized that the skill set I had was really more important and applicable to my future use of the language. "You're not going to go into a hotel in Madrid and ask where the nearest club is or where to go sailing by writing it down on a piece of paper. Our country is notorious for being ignorant and arrogant in that manner." Another english teacher I had let us express ourselves by reading our writing and writing poetry. She realized that it would be difficult to keep our attention during our senior spring...and she made the class very enjoyable. |
| |
| 2.)
What did you like least about the academics in your school? |
| |
| Some teachers who were not flexible, and really looked down on their students. Arrogance has no place in the classroom and I don't respect that as a method of gaining attention. |
| |
| |
| 1.)
What did you like best about your schools athletics? |
| |
| Competing at the top level of high school athletics in the country.
Competing with athletes that were dedicated to put in the work required to achieve their goals as well as the team's. |
| |

| 1.)
What did you like best about your schools art program? |
| |
| As a member of the chorale, we had an inspired teacher and coach. Kristopher Johnson brought my singing to a new level as well as my general understanding and appreciation for music. |
| |
| 2.)
What did you like least about your schools art program? |
| |
| The students didn't back the art program as much as I would have liked early on, but as a more mainstream student and a social mogul on campus myself and another girl really drew attention towards a program that was producing some great music. The program has since built a whole new music room and performance center. |

| 1.)
What did you like most about the extracurricular activities offered
at your school? |
| |
| The availability of many groups to choose from |
| |
| 2.)
What did you like least about the extracurricular activities offered
at your school? |
| |
| The school's involvement beyond reviewing the results from the group's discussion. Not much was ever really accomplished by many of the student groups that I can recall. |
| |
| |
| 1.)
What was the best thing about dorm life in your school? |
| |
| Latenight with the boys. FLAT OUT THE BEST TIMES OF MY LIFE. RIDICULOUS. My boys in sheehan know and we still talk about my junior year on the top floor as the only juniors up there. The fab 4 had the most ridiculous boarding school social life ever and I know that can not be recreated, but there is still a good time to be had. |
| |
| 2.)
What did you like least about dorm life? |
| |
| Teachers without social lives taking out their resentment on students enjoying themselves. |
| |
| |
| 1.)
What was the best thing about your dining arrangements? |
| |
| Convenient and friendly service. |
| |
| 2.)
What did you like least about your dining arrangements? |
| |
| The food quality, but I guess its the same everywhere. Nothing is like home |
| |
| |
| 1.) How welcome did you feel by the other students when you first
arrived at the school? |
| |
| The other students took me right in. As a transfer, I met the other 3 juniors who lived on my floor and we instantly bonded. We had out own lingo and really ran the school our senior year. Those 3 guys are the guys I talk to most now, and really the ones that everyone asks me about. My buddy Mike confirms the same, that anytime anyone asks about anyone its just like "How is Dutch(my nickname), Jack, and Guerro?" |
| |
| 2.)
Describe the level of diversity and integration of students in your
school: |
| |
| The student population was somewhat diverse. Not 50 50 by any means, but I think that is due to individual preference. Basically all the students had the same mindset academically and socially as well as athletically...and thats all that really mattered. |
| |
| 3.)
Describe typical fun activities you did on a weekend: |
| |
| On the books, my highlights of the weekends would be playing in my games on fridays and saturdays and then going and playing wiffleball or street hockey on sundays.
Off the books, my social life was very good at Cbury. I enjoyed myself thoroughly and maintained a social life somewhat resembling my life outside of school. |
| |
| 4.)
What was the town like? |
| |
| Yeah we went down into town. New Milford is kind of a dead town. I used to go out with some baseball teammates who were day students and get rowdy with them. But being from a much more upscale town and living so close to boston, it was kind of disappointing. |
