Reflections and Advice:
1.) What do you think makes your school unique relative to other boarding schools?
Reserve’s small knit community gives me the feeling of a community family everyday. Since Reserve is only 400 students it is easy to form personal bonds with the faculty. I think that faculty-student relationships are the closest you can get without actually having your family at school. Faculty dorm masters and advisors provide the role of a guardian and I know I can feel comfortable talking to them. When coming to Reserve you can see that faculty and students want to be here, it is an atmosphere that is truly inviting and comfortable. I know that I can be pushed to my limits because other students are pushing themselves to be the best they can be.
2.)  What was the best thing that happened to you in boarding school?
Coming from a small town I really hadn’t had any experience with diversity in my school. The friendships I have formed with those from around the world are very important to me. In my dorm of 14 girls I couldn’t imagine one day without each of them. The diversity they bring from all walks of life makes me truly appreciate their impact on me. From Los Angeles to Connecticut, Germany to Korea, I am shown diversity in not only personality but also race. My friends at Reserve have made my experience here amazing.
3.)  What might you have done differently during your boarding school experience?
I wish I could have entered the boarding school atmosphere earlier than I did. I started my Reserve career as a new sophomore. As I look back I wish I could have come to Reserve as a freshman because I really everything about the school. I can’t imagine being anywhere else; I really think Reserve is a perfect match for me. Reserve caters to my strengths and helps me with my weaknesses, I am able to grow and mature here under the supervision and help of everyone around.
4.)  What did you like most about your school?
At Reserve I feel I have the freedom to do what I want while still having a structured school day. Study hours at night in the dorm are enforced yet during my free periods I can go into town, sleep in my room, or hang out around campus. During free periods students are given the freedom to do what they want. At night in the dorms you can sign out to any academic buildings to get help or the library. Reserve does a great job of balancing freedoms and structure.
5.)  Do you have any final words of wisdom for visiting or incoming students to your school?
The only way to get a true feeling for Reserve is to come and visit. Schedule a tour or stay a night in the dorm. Reserve’s atmosphere is truly something unique and special and it could be the perfect fit for you.
Academics:
1.) Describe the academics at your school - what did you like most about it?
When I came to Reserve I was astounded that the students actually wanted to learn. I feel that in my small classes at Reserve I am pushed to be the best I can be because all of my classmates are doing the same. With 21 AP courses at Reserve and many honors courses you can pick and choose between the things you really like to do and are good at.
Athletics:
1.) Describe the athletics at your school - what did you like most about it?
At Reserve there is a requirement that everyone play at least two team sports a year. I love this idea because it gives me opportunity to try something I haven’t before and make friends with those that I wouldn’t necessarily be interacting with a lot.
Music, and Theatre:
1.) Describe the arts program at your school - what did you like most about it?
While attending Reserve you must fulfill a certain amount of art credits giving students the opportunity to take advantage of what the art department has to offer. The diversity of the art program is also amazing. If you aren’t interested in drawing or sculpting then you can take a speech course or a writing course. Computer courses as well as dance and music are also included in the art department standards for graduation.
Extracurricular Opportunities:
1.) Describe the extracurriculars offered at your school - what did you like most about it?
The diversity of activities to choose from at school is very impressive. You can do community service, play the stock market, or even go to youth group. There are numerous possibilities when it comes to choosing what you want to do. Reserve has also set one period a week for clubs to have their meetings. This has proven very affective because now you can balance more clubs on top of everything else at school.
Dorm Life:
1.) Describe the dorm life in your school - what did you like most about it?
Reserve is working hard to make smaller dorms. Being a dorm with 14 girls I love the fact that I am so close to each and every one of them. They are truly my best friends because they spend the most time with me. Our dorm is also an old house so I get the feeling of a home instead of the dorm feeling. I also enjoy the time I spend with the faculty master’s children who share the house with us. It makes me feel like I am at a home away from home.
Dining:
1.) Describe the dining arrangements at your school.
Monday through Thursday Reserve has sit-down formal dinners. This is a time for students to sit at a table with faculty to have a meal. It is fun to sit at a table with one of my teachers and their family. The faculty who are the heads of the table serve the food just like you would at home. It’s a time I look forward to because it gives me the feeling of being at home.
Social and Town Life:
1.) Describe the school's town and surrounding area.
Hudson, Ohio is a small town literally one block away from campus. During my free periods I can walk down and get a milkshake or grab a sandwich at one of the many places to eat. I can shop at the GAP in town and the school has made it possible for the students to use their ID cards as a debit card to make shopping in town easily. I feel comfortable walking downtown whether it is to celebrate a community day or just grab something to eat.
2.) Describe the social life at your school - what did you like most about it?
Coming to Reserve as a new sophomore I was afraid that I wouldn’t fit in but when I came I found that I was completely wrong. I wasn’t the only new student and Reserve’s small population made it easy to make friends. The school is too small to not get to know everyone. Student council makes weekend activities available to everyone in the school. Activiites range from seeing an orchestra play in Cleveland to ice hockey games in New York. Most of the time I sign out to my friends house for sleepovers and hanging out around town.
